What can be glimpsed is a pair of photographs posted to
Facebook by Maggie Cruikshank, a language teacher with the Kativik School
Board. The photographs show two hands holding a yellow measuring tape beside
one very large, very muddy footprint. Ms. Cruikshank recently gave an account
of what she claims to have seen on a late September day to the Nunatsiaq News.
She was berry picking with a cousin when a creature — not a man, and not a bear
— appeared. It was black and hairy. She was frightened.
