The above is an advert for a new film about an expedition that disappears in the Congo searching for a dinosaur. The website looks like a crypto website.I have no idea about what the film is like but it is due out soon and maybe worth a look. If it brings cryptozoology to people's notice then perhaps we shouldn't knock things like this but support them.however if the film is bad it makes cryptozoology look bad so lets hope it is a good film. :-)

another thunderbird sighting reported
FactReality said...
At my job site, in PA, I saw a big bird, what people call a Thunderbird. It was dark gray in color. It looked like a pterodactyl, but with feathers, and it had the finger feathers of the eagle. This bird's wing span was huge! It was bigger than any bird I ever saw! When it flew, it had a dark gray, more straighter tail, not a fan tail like an eagle when it flies. I saw the big bird standing next to a railroad car and it was as tall as the railroad car wheel. Plus the stone ground that it was standing on was a little lower than the railroad track. The big bird had short yellow legs, not long legs like a Blue Heron or Stork. The big bird had normal size claws, for the length of its legs. It had a dark charcoal gray, straight, thick beak like a pterodactyl, not curved like an eagle. I don't think it had any teeth, I didn't see any. It had a triangular tuft, of feathers, or skin, or hairy down, that came to a point on top of its head, that made it look like a pterodactyl. I later measured the area that the big bird was standing on. The big bird stood about 38 to 40 inches tall including the tuft on top of its head. It was in a hilly, swampy, cornfield area, around the border of the area I saw it in, during the summertime, about 3 P.M. June 2007. When it flew away, over the maple, pine, fir, and balsam tree line, to the North, that's when I saw its huge wingspan. It didn't land in any of the nearby trees. Somehow I don't think the trees would have held it very well, it was so big!

Largest UK Fresh Fish caught
10-stone
catfish caught by Essex chef
A chef and keen angler from Essex has caught what is
thought to be the largest freshwater fish - weighing more than 10 stone - to be
landed in the UK.James Jones, 31, of Southminster, caught the 144lb (65.3kg)
wels catfish at the Oak Lakes Fishery, Essex. In Britain, before records were
suspended in 2000, the largest catfish caught weighed just 62lb (28kg).Mr Jones
said anglers knew there was a huge fish in the lake but nobody had caught it.
It took two hours to land.

The real Goatman?
Tug
Gettling: The legend of the real goatman
Imagine yourself on a leisurely nature hike in the remote mountains of Utah.
Maybe you want to take some pictures of Utah wildlife and so you have brought
your favorite camera and equipment along with you.Midway through the hike, as
you are enjoying the solitude and quiet of being so far away from the commotion
of civilization, you notice a small group of mountain goats traversing up the
side of an adjacent mountain. As you watch them you notice that one of the
goats looks a bit strange and is not moving quite like the rest of them; it is
slower and clumsier. Quickly you deploy your binoculars to get a better look.Much
to your surprise the slow goat turns out to be something other than a goat. It
appears to be a goat-man creature or a person in a goat suit of some sort. The
goatman is crawling on his hands and knees trailing the herd. He looks back
toward you and spots you looking back at him. Suddenly the goatman freezes,
staring back at you. Your spine tingles as the goat-like creature continues to
gaze back at you. That is a synopsis of the story of the discovery of the Utah
goatman, which turned out to be nothing more (or less) than a man who dressed
up as a goat and ran around with a herd of goats to prepare for a future goat
hunting trip. While the Utah goatman mystery has been solved there remains
another similar mystery: the goatman of Maryland. In 1957, in Prince George's
County, Md., an eyewitness reported seeing a hairy, horned monster that
resembled a half-man, half-animal creature and the legend of the Maryland
Goatman was born.Saturday, 28 July 2012
Preparing for Yowie hunt
Quest
to find yowie in Coast's Hinterland
Andrew Potts
AUSTRALIA'S leading yowie hunter is preparing to lead a team of 12 people in
to the Gold Coast Hinterland in a bid to prove the legend exists. Over the
years, yowie hunters and tourists have come to the Hinterland in search of the
beast, but veteran hunter Rex Gilroy is determined he will succeed. The first
reported sighting at Springbrook was made in 1886 by local indigenous tribes. More
famous than that, though, was a sighting in 1979 when Bill O'Chee, later a
Nationals senator, spotted what he said was a yowie while on camp with 20
fellow students from The Southport School. Mr Gilroy, the Australian Yowie
Research Centre director, will begin his search next month."I have a few
plaster casts of large footprints from the Hinterland, which interestingly
enough match similar prints found near Coffs Harbour," he said.Friday, 27 July 2012
Snakes evolution discovered? And what does this mean for other cryptids?
Land
not sea' origin for snakes
One of the most primitive snake fossils ever found hints
that the slithery reptiles might have originated on land, not in the sea as has
been proposed. The animal, which lived at the same time as the dinosaurs,
probably emerged from a line of burrowing reptiles that lost their legs.
Where and how snakes diverged from their legged cousins the lizards has been
a mystery.Details of the find appear
in the journal Nature. The debate over snake origins has been complicated by the scarcity of transitional fossils (those with features in between two groups of creatures). But new fossils from eastern Wyoming, US, belonging to the ancient snake Coniophis precedens - which lived some 65-70 million years ago - could help clear up the mystery.According to the analysis by Nicholas Longrich from Yale University and colleagues, Coniophis lived in a floodplain environment and "lacks adaptations for aquatic locomotion".

This set me thinking.....What if lake creatures were originally land dwelling animals that evolved to go back into the water? It would explain how they could be a species that has not been discovered before and that they live in the bottom of the lakes normally, only rising to be seen occasionally. The Ice Age could have forced them to change, their landscape being torn apart by the ice. Just a thought for the weekend ...(the question would be what did they evolve from/). Any ideas please post in the comments section.

New Fish discovered
Pictures:
Strange New Fish Found Deep off New Zealand
This unidentified species of cusk-eel was caught about 1.5
miles (2.4 kilometers) underwater. Generally shorter than other eels, cusk-eels
are mostly nocturnal, deep-dwelling fish.

A new species of eel is always interesting to those who believe lake monsters are giant eels. They may be right, at the moment any theory is as good as another.

surprised?
Stores
in Pennsylvania evacuated as bear goes shopping
Panicked shoppers fled a US retail park when a
disorientated bear wandered into a department store and ran up and down the
aisles, it has emerged. The female black bear had apparently made its way into
the Pittsburgh Mills centre through automatic doors."It darted past
several people. They didn't even know it was a bear," shopper Matt
Marcinik told local media. The animal was eventually shot with a tranquiliser
dart and taken away by Pennsylvania wildlife officials.

I posted this to show we should never be surprised by what animals do.We certainly shouldn't be surprised by cryptids behaviour .We know so little about them and if we can't predict the behaviour of known animals like our bear, How can we predict when cryptids will appear or how they will behave?
Just a thought for Monday.
