Frank Searle in colour

For those who have never seen Frank Searle or his display ,there was a programme on BBC2 at 7pm tonight showing old films of the highlands. About 5 minutes before the end Frank appears and you see his set up as it was. It looks very clean in the film ,cleaner than I remember it, but then memory is fallible lol.The episode is on BBCi player ,link below:

Turkish mortuary alarm to detect life among the dead

A local council in central Turkey has built a morgue with a warning system, in case apparently dead bodies come back to life.The Turkish Anatolia news agency reported the mortuary's refrigerators are sensitive to movement inside.A cemetery official said the slightest motion would set off an alarm."If the patient, proclaimed dead by doctors, awakens from a state of unconsciousness, then we consider each and every possibility," he said. The official, Akif Kayadurmus, added that the refrigerator doors were kitted out with internal door handles.The mortuary in the municipality of Malatya province, has a capacity for 36 bodies.

A rare giant armadillo has been caught on camera by researchers in the wetlands of central Brazil.Little is known about the mysterious mammals, which can reach 1.5m in length and weigh up to 50kg.In the past, the species' nocturnal, solitary lifestyles have posed a considerable challenge for scientists wishing to study them.    Little is known about giant armadillos but scientists have identified that their long claws are suitable for digging up termite mounds for food.    Unlike their smaller relatives, these large animals are unable to fully roll into a protective ball and so burrow to escape predators. At up to twice the size of more familiar species, giant armadillos (Priodontes maximus) are known to live in undisturbed forest near to water sources in South America.But the species have a patchy distribution and spend their days in underground burrows making confirmed sightings rare. esearchers from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) spent 10 weeks intensively searching for the elusive mammals in a region of the Pantanal, one of the world's largest wetlands spanning Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.Using cameras provided by Chester Zoo, the team were able to capture rare photographs of the animals.

Nessie caught on radar?

Monster croc gets own park in Philippines

A monster crocodile is the star attraction at its own nature park that's opened in the Philippines, weeks after the beast's capture.People are already paying 20 pesos (45 Australian cents) to enter the compound in the town of Bunawan for a look at the 6.4-metre male saltwater crocodile, which is believed to have killed two people.Bunawan Mayor Edwin Elorde hopes to have another attraction soon - a reportedly even larger crocodile sighted by residents of this largely rural town on the southern island of Mindanao..

"They saw it with their own eyes - it was bigger," he told reporters."Our estimates are that it would be 25 to 30 feet long with body width of around four feet."

The two huge crocodiles were sighted killing a water buffalo in August. So far, only one has been caught after a two-week long hunt.
