A Bigfoot sighted near Bristol began a reign of terror

It seems that all across America, there are areas that have tales of what might be called “Bigfoot stories.” Virtually all of them tell of a super-sized giant resembling a human being. The detailed descriptions vary as to size and shape, but there are some things in common. Generally it is told that the footprints are in the 18-20 inch range. Also, the gigantic body is usually covered in black or brown hair. This hair is usually said to be muddy or matted and in most cases, there is a long, overwhelming eye-burning scent that lingers long after the beast has passed. Some say they have encountered the scent without encountering the sight and have fled.

The truth is down there: looking for answers in the Nessie Files

FOR the first time, a comprehensive database of all reported sightings of the Loch Ness monster is being complied.The creators of the Nessie Files hope their work will shed light on the hundreds of strange sightings of the mythical creature.Dr Charles Paxton, an ecologist and statistician at St Andrews University, who is carrying out the project, has so far uncovered around 853 reported encounters with Nessie over the past 80 years.He will undertake a statistical analysis to see if there are any distinct clusters or patterns which could be explained by natural phenomena, such as a site where unusual waves are frequently formed.

Giant Japanese spider crab Big Daddy arrives at Blackpool Sea Life Centre

A giant Japanese spider crab named after UK wrestling legend Big Daddy is settling down in its new home in Blackpool.The mega-sized creature’s claws have a 9ft (2.7m) span and it’s said to be adjusting well to his new surroundings.‘He’s in the tank and looking happy so that’s quite cool,’ Scott Blacker from the Blackpool Sea Life Centre said.

Student starts a club to hunt for Sasquatch

On a cold January evening when you were bundled up cozy and warm, two Castleton StateCollege students were walking through the woods of Hubbardton looking and listening for signs that will point them to the legendary Sasquatch. Zachary Davidson and Andrew Nevins have formed a Sasquatch Club on campus and are hell bent on finding the elusive critter. Davidson,president of the club, and Vice President Nevins, believe Sasquatch was in Hubbardton before the TV show “Finding Bigfoot” came to Castleton’s backyard this past semester.

Mariana Trench: Deepest ocean 'teems with microbes'

The deepest place in the ocean is teeming with microscopic life, a study suggests.An international team of scientists found that the very bottom of the Mariana Trench, which lies almost 11km (7 miles) down in the Pacific Ocean, had high levels of microbial activity.The research is published in the journal Nature Geoscience. The underwater canyon was once thought to be too hostile an environment for life to exist.But this study adds to a growing body of evidence that a range of creatures can cope with the near-freezing temperatures, immense pressures and complete darkness.

Phallus-shaped fossils identified as new species

Scientists have revealed insights into a peculiar, phallus-shaped creature discovered at a fossil site in Canada.The animal has been identified as Spartobranchus tenuis, a species from the Cambrian period that was previously unknown to science.The odd-looking creature was an ancient relative of acorn worms that exist today, according to researchers.Their study, published in the journal Nature, is the first full description of the prehistoric animal.Remains of soft-bodied worms were found in the Burgess Shale fossil beds in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada throughout the last century.
