'Don't tease' the sasq'ets

As a seven- or eight-year-old boy, Chehalis Chief Willie Charlie was playing down by the river on the band's reserve with some cousins when they heard an eerie, high-pitched screech come from up the river. "It was a yell and my crazy cousin screamed back," Charlie told the Times in a recent interview. "Within a few minutes it was even closer and my cousin screamed back again. A few minute later it came from directly across the river." Charlie and his cousins were so terrified they ran to his grandmother's house and hid, crying under the kitchen table. "My grandmother asked us what was going on and when we told her she said 'you crazy kids you shouldn't be teasing him,'" he said. "That was the sasq'ets.'" The word "sasquatch" was coined as a mispronunciation of the Halq'emeylem word "sasq'ets" by J.W. Burns, an Indian Agent in the 1920s on the Chehalis reserve. Burns was fascinated by the stories from local First Nation about this wild man in the woods. He sent word out for hunters to come try to find the creature and in some ways is responsible for the local fascination in sasquatch. Harrison Hot Springs sasquatch research legend John Green explained that "sasquatch" and "sasq'ets" are just two out of hundreds of words that First Nations all over North America have for the cryptid. Idaho State University anthropologist Jeff Meldrum goes further, saying to the myth and story-telling of the wild manspans the globel from Russia to the Himalayas and beyond. Charlie said sasquatch stories are not new to the Cheahlis. Rock paintings of sasq'ets have been found in caves going back thousands of years. "The way my grandfather described it, sasq'ets travelled right from the Oregon coast to the Interior," he said. "We only live on his trail."

GOODYEAR, AZ - A video shot here in the Valley has some wondering what exactly was recently spotted running through a Goodyear neighborhood.Darrin Jackson was driving his kids to school, when he noticed something unusual running from the park."It was all gray, no hair on it at all, maybe just a little bit at the top, and it had this funny looking tail," said Jackson.Jackson believes what he viewed roaming the streets of Goodyear was a Chupacabra, a legendary hairless creature."It looks like an alien almost, so it's hard to forget that image because it's so weird looking and just to see it in broad daylight."Jackson shot video while following the animal from the park to a nearby Fry's grocery store parking lot. It was there where the creature ran through an open gate and disappeared down a sewer drain.

Every hairless creature seen will be a chupacabra from now on. sigh. I am waiting for someone to shave their pet and then take a photo and claim its chupacabra lol

Mankind has always been fascinated by monsters. Mythologies from around the world include stories ... to strange and terrifying creatures, including the half-bull - half-man Minotaur of Greek myth, the living clay Golem of Jewish traditions, the United Kingdom and Elves of Chinese dragons. Although these creatures are obviously fantastic, just 1 or 2 centuries, the belief in monsters were commonplace.Modern monsters are not so fantastic and even though most people deny their existence, some are confident that unknown creatures inhabit the anoichtogalazi dot us. It seems that every few months, monsters of one kind or another are being news.Sometimes this is a new private blurry video in some form in the waters of Loch Ness, sometimes it is the picture of a hunter with a picture of Bigfoot. Whether there are monsters or not, the mystery will accompany us.

Australian rats scurry to desert en masse after rains

A mass migration of rats is under way into the inland deserts of Australia after a run of high rainfall seasons, scientists say.The native long-haired rat, or Rattus villosissimus, normally lives in the Barkly Tableland of the Northern Territory and in western Queensland.But now it has been spotted in Alice Springs for the first time in 25 years."Some of them get up to about 30cm [12in] long - fair lump of a rat," livestock manager Chris Giles said."They will run around and hide under a little bit of shrub there, and you can get pretty close to them," Mr Giles, a stockman on the Northern Territory's Lake Nash Station, told Australia's ABC News."I nearly caught one the other day."

Peter McDonald, acting scientist with Northern Territory Biodiversity Conservation, said the phenomenon was a "huge event" which he attributed to a run of consecutive good, high rainfall seasons.read rest here :

I wonder if cryptids migrate? With climate change and all the natural disasters we have had lately,could some cryptids  have either moved to territories new or become extinct ? Or do they stick to same territory where they feel safe, isolated places , isolated from humans that is.No one seems to have documeneted any evidemce of cryptids on the move ,that is seeing the same creature in very different places. If you know different please post or even if you have any thoughts on cryptids possibly migrating.
