Bigfoot has been caught after days of terrorizing the Internet and quite possibly scaring the bejeezus out of little old ladies and unsuspecting kids in the soggy Southeast Alaska town of Ketchikan, sources revealed over the weekend. Sasquatch was found -- where else? -- at a bar, enjoying a cold beer after a few days on the loose in the misty rainforests down around those parts.A Ketchikan man emailed Dispatch that he'd heard tales that Mr. Foot stopped in for a sudsy cold one at none other than the Arctic Bar & Liquor Store on Water Street. Turns out, though, where one mystery was solved another may have begun. He did say that this photo appeared about the same time that a YouTube video surfaced last week of Bigfoot lurking about near Ketchikan. Watch the video and you'll catch a shadowy figure sneaking through the heavy brush.

The cruise ship industry had devised some strange "entertainment" and Weinstein said he wouldn't be surprised if old Booger wasn't part of the plan to peddle Alaskana--for a premium.Perhaps so, perhaps not.Bigfoot has been thought to live along the North American Pacific coast for a long time, although most detectives would tell you Ketchikan's a bit far north for him to be roaming about. Sullivan catches ‘fish of a lifetime’

David Sullivan used the benefit of his 30 years of freshwater eel (Anguilla, Anguilla) fishing to capture his biggest yet - an 8lb 9oz specimen.Sullivan from Leamington is a member of the National Anguilla Club (NAC), the oldest single species fishing club in the country. “I became fascinated with this fish and its incredible life cycle as a young boy,” said Sullivan.
Despite a 15-minute struggle to land the eel, Sullivan was quick to return “the fish of a lifetime” to whence it came after a quick snap. “We put them back alive,” he said. “The club believes in conservation and the European Eel is an endangered species.”

If it keeps growing it could be a monster eel. I am sure large eels are the explanation for some sea and lake monster sightings. Now if he were to catch a plesiosaur ......

Third of amphibians said unknown; lurk in forests

(Reuters) - One in three of all types of amphibians may yet to be found by scientists and remote tropical forests should get extra protection as the likely homes of such "unknown" creatures, a study said on Wednesday.Despite centuries of research by biologists, the report estimated that 3,050 types of amphibians -- a group that includes frogs, toads, salamanders and newts -- were still to be described, compared to 6,296 species known to science.Likewise, it estimated that at least 160 types of land mammals were yet to be found, about 3 percent of a known total of 5,398 ranging from elephants to tiny shrews."Most of these species are likely to be found in tropical forests," Xingli Giam, of Princeton University in the United States and lead author of the report, told Reuters. The Amazon, the Congo basin and Papua island were among likely sites.The study estimated the number of unknown species from factors including past rates of discovery of new animals and the extent of unexplored habitats. As a rule, creatures found in recent years tended to be ever rarer, limited to small ranges."Many of the undescribed species...are probably in danger of extinction and could well disappear before they are discovered," according to the study in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B by experts in the United States, Mexico and Singapore.

Jaws was one of four salt-water crocodile hatchlings imported from Singapore by the Central Leather Research Institute, Madras, back in the early 1970s. The organisation planned to slaughter them after five years to assess the feasibility of crocodile farming.In 1973, when his surveys showed that wild crocs were almost gone, Rom wanted to start breeding crocodiles at the Madras Snake Park, and went to the Institute to have a look at the reptiles.As he walked around the murky pond with Rajamani, an Irula friend, one of the three-foot salties suddenly erupted out of the water and grabbed Rajamani's leg. This was their first encounter with the species, and they realised it was a very different croc from the easy-going mugger they were used to.

Dealing with such a large animal can sometimes be awkwardly dangerous. Once, Jaws had to be moved to a bigger enclosure. After his ropes were untied, everyone was to jump off at the same time at the count of three. Rom began counting “One…”, and his nervous crew immediately leapt off the reptile's back, leaving him alone, straddling Jaws' shoulders. Feeling the weight on him lighten, the croc moved forward and Rom fell back. Thankfully, the animal was more interested in getting into the water.Today, at 16 feet plus and weighing between 500 and 600 kg, Jaws is the largest croc in captivity in India.
