A creature has been seen in the Loch for centuries. As it surely can’t be the same creature ,there must have been a breeding family to continue to be seen over the years. The argument has always been that the Loch doesn’t connect to the sea and therefore no large creatures could have come that way to breed. There is new evidence to say that this isn’t true.
British and U.S. scientists claim they have evidence that the sea extended into Loch Ness at two points in history: after the Ice Age in Europe (125,000 years ago) and 12,800 years ago. A geologist working with a research team in 2001 noticed the clay on the anchor of their boat looked different from other deposits found in the same part of the Loch. Carbon  dating and amino-acid testing on the clay indicated that it contained clams  and sea urchin spines from both 12,800 and 125,000 years ago. This discovery would tend to lend credence to the theory that large animals could have become trapped in the Loch as the water receded back to the sea. Food for thought indeed.Another  theory is that Nessie could be like some animals such as certain types of sharks that can breed without a mate. Whatever Nessie is , whether apparition or monster, she / he has been around a long time.

Chinese wildman and bigfoot spider in news

Sasquatch With Chinese Characteristics
China Daily’s Wang Xiaodong profiles 62-year-old Hubei native Li Guohua and his more than thirty-year pursuit of the Chinese bigfoot:

Trogloraptor: Spider version of Bigfoot found in caves of the Pacific Northwest
The forests of the coastal regions from California to British Columbia are renowned for their unique and ancient animals and plants, such as coast redwoods, tailed frogs, mountain beavers and the legendary Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch). Whereas Bigfoot is probably just fiction, a huge, newly discovered spider is very real. Trogloraptor (or "cave robber") is named for its cave home and spectacular, elongate claws. It is a spider so evolutionarily special that it represents not only a new genus and species, but also a new family (Trogloraptoridae). Even for the species-rich insects and arachnids, to discover a new, previously unknown family is an historic moment. A study of the new family and its evolutionary and conservation significance was published in the open access journal Zookeys.

8 new species said to be found in Indian Ocean

Fishing venture turns up all kinds of weird deep-sea sharks
Researcher on commercial fishing vessel says some species are likely new to science
By Andrea Mustain
A two-month fishing expedition to the Indian Ocean has turned up hundreds of strange deep-sea sharks, and several are likely new to science. At least eight new species could be among the fishy haul, said Paul Clerkin, a shark ecology graduate student at California's Moss Landing Marine Laboratories.

How long before they find a cryptid? One of the new species found any day now could be what has been seen as a sea serpent or merhorse. I hope I live to see it :-)

'Severe abnormalities' found in Fukushima butterflies
By Nick Crumpton BBC News
Mutated pale grass blue butterfly The study found that mutation rates were much higher among butterfly collected near Fukushima. Scientists found an increase in leg, antennae and wing shape mutations among butterflies collected following the 2011 Fukushima accident. The link between the mutations and the radioactive material was shown by laboratory experiments, they report. The work has been published in the journal Scientific Reports.
By comparing mutations found on the butterflies collected from the different sites, the team found that areas with greater amounts of radiation in the environment were home to butterflies with much smaller wings and irregularly developed eyes. "It has been believed that insects are very resistant to radiation," said lead researcher Joji Otaki from the University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa."In that sense, our results were unexpected," he told BBC News.
I can remember an article in the Observer newspaper , many years ago, possibly the 80’s, in which an artist had drawn pictures of mutated insects she had found near a nuclear  power station. It’s not the first time insects have been found to be affected by radiation. Which begs the question what would survive a bad leak from a power station unscathed?

Bigfoot in the news again.

Locals Reluctant to Talk About Bigfoot in Public
By KRISTAN KORNS, Two Rivers Tribune
Tribes all along the Pacific coast, from Central California all the way up to Alaska, have shared stories about large hairy human-like creatures that live hidden in the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
Steven Streufort, who runs Bigfoot Books in Willow Creek, said that European settlers arriving in the area disregarded the stories at first – until they started finding footprints and catching sight of the creature themselves.
It wasn’t until the twentieth century that the local stories reached the outside world.
“In the late 1950s they started to cut into a remote area of virgin timber north of Weitchpec,” Streufort said. “When they started cutting roads into there, they found footprints in the new roads.”A logging tractor driver from Salyer named Jerry Crews took pictures and made plaster casts of huge footprints at his work site near Bluff Creek. The footprints were 16 inches long. The Humboldt Times in Eureka published the pictures in October 1958, and the story was retold by newspapers around the world.Despite the stories of Bigfoot being in the worldwide news media for over 50 years, and told throughout the Pacific Northwest for hundreds of years before that, people are reluctant to come forward with their own sightings.
“They may tell you if they know you and trust you,” Streufort said, “but they don’t want to go on the record. It can damage your reputation publically.”

Video of Skegness sea serpent?

Loch Ness Monster Spotted at... Skegness Beach? (Video)
posted by Tom Rose .

Well this may be a hoax but it’s not the first time a strange creature has been seen off Skegness.
and the follow up:

i was on holiday in Chapel St Leonards staying in a caravan park behind sand dunes next to the beach in the late 70's I would be about 12 years old at the time. It was about 7 o'clock in the evening and was still light when I went down to the beach for a paddle. I was in the water up to my chest when I caught sight of something in the water about 20-30 feet further out from me moving as you said parallel to the beach I would say it was at least 17-18 feet long of what I could see of it poking out of the water. It had large thick fins on its back which curved back, at least 7 -8 of them as best i can remember. It was dark in colour like a grey brown colour there was no sound other than the disturbance it made as it cut through the water and was travelling at about 8-10 miles an hour it scared me quite a bit I can tell you. I watched it untill it went out of sight by which time I was no longer in the water lol. I ran back and told my parents but they just laughed at me. It was many years later when I happened on a book about sea serpents and dicovered to my amazement that there was a picture of what I had seen in the book also seen off the coast of skegness. It was passed off in the book as possibly being a flock of seagulls on the horizon or a school of porposes. I know for a fact that what I saw was real I had never seen anything like it. I saw some kind of unrecorded creature never documented. It affected me so much even after all these years and when I saw this blog I just had to say something. I wonder if it is still alive, nothing lives for ever and to have seen it means there must be more than one a species can't exist by itsself.

So what do you think?

huge python discovered

Record-breaking python found in Everglades with 87 eggs
A monster Burmese python captured in the Everglades has broken the state size record, stretching 17 feet, 7 inches, its belly bursting with 87 eggs, the University of Florida announced Monday.
The snake was brought to the Florida Museum of Natural History last Friday for examination. After the scientists are done with it, the snake will be mounted for exhibition at the museum for five years and then returned for exhibition to Everglades National Park.“This thing is monstrous, it’s about a foot wide,” said Kenneth Krysko, manager of the museum’s herpetology collection. “It means these snakes are surviving a long time in the wild, there’s nothing stopping them and the native wildlife are in trouble.”Feathers were found in the snake’s stomach, and these will be examined by the museum’s ornithologists. The number of eggs was also a state record.
